Work experience

We offer work experience across our services, including mental health, learning disability and autism, and children and young people's services. We also have opportunities in our corporate services too.

Why consider work experience?

Work experience is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn more about a specific role or service at CWPT and in the NHS. You'll be exposed to new ideas, knowledge, skills, and behaviours throughout your placement to help you in making your decision to pursue a career in the NHS. It may also be required to fulfil a course requirement and will also look great on any future job application.

Who can apply for work experience?

We accept applications for two types of work experience; one which is specifically for students and one for anyone, which we call general work experience.

We have clinical and non-clinical placements within our Trust. To apply applicants must be aged:

  • 16 or over for non-clinical placements, such as administration
  • 18 or over for clinical placements

Please note, if you do not meet the work experience age requirements when you apply, we will not be able to accept your application.

General work experience

Our general work experience lasts 1-3 days and is for open to anyone looking to gain an insight into the NHS.

School or college student work experience

We offer a small number of placements for school and college students who are looking to fulfil a practical requirement of a current course, such as a BTEC or T level.

My work experience was an incredibly valuable and insightful experience. I believe the lessons I've taken from this experience will greatly support me in my clinical practice moving forward, as well as in future applications for NHS positions. It was truly a privilege to learn from such a knowledgeable and compassionate team.
