New Adult Eating Disorder Day Treatment Service Opens in Coventry and Warwickshire
Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT) has opened The Grove, a new Adult Eating Disorder Day Treatment Service for people living in Coventry and Warwickshire.
The service was officially launched on 29 September 2026, with two service users invited to cut the ribbon at the opening event.
The Grove provides structured, intensive, community-based treatment for adults who require a higher level of support than standard outpatient care. The service aims to reduce the need for inpatient admission where clinically appropriate and will also support people transitioning from inpatient treatment back into the community.
The service is temporarily based at Rosewood on the St Michael's Hospital site in Warwick. It will relocate to the Caludon Centre in Coventry in the future, strengthening links between inpatient and community eating disorder services.
The Grove's treatment programme combines evidence-based psychological interventions, meal support and recovery-focused activities delivered within a therapeutic group setting.
The service can support up to six people at a time and operates Monday to Friday, from 8.00am to 4.00pm. This allows individuals to receive intensive treatment while remaining connected to their families, home environment and local community.
Richard Onyon, Chief Medical Officer at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, said:
"The introduction of The Grove expands the range of specialist eating disorder services available across Coventry and Warwickshire. The service provides an additional level of support for people who need more intensive treatment than outpatient care and can help reduce the need for hospital admission where appropriate. It also supports people as they transition from inpatient treatment back into the community."
Hannah Andrews, Head of Service for Eating Disorder Services at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, said:
"For many years we have identified a gap between outpatient and inpatient eating disorder care. The Grove provides an alternative treatment option for people who require more intensive support while remaining in their local community.
"Many people with eating disorders spend extended periods in hospital, often away from family and support networks. This service enables individuals to access structured treatment during the day while continuing to live at home."
The Grove has been developed through collaboration between the Coventry and Warwickshire Eating Disorder Service within CWPT and SupportED West Midlands Provider Collaborative.
The introduction of The Grove strengthens the adult eating disorder care pathway in Coventry and Warwickshire by providing an additional level of specialist community support between outpatient and inpatient services.
