Hospital Rooms: Balancing Acts Exhibition on in Birmingham

Close-up of persons hand painting

An exhibition exploring how artists, young people, and NHS staff have worked together to radically reimagine what a mental health hospital can look and feel like is on in Birmingham.

Balancing Acts brings together four artists and the young people of Parkview Clinic, an NHS inpatient mental health service for children and adolescents in Birmingham. Through over 40 workshops exploring weaving, clay, painting and printmaking, they've created thirteen new permanent artworks that radically reimagine the clinic's spaces.

The project captures the ideas and ambitions of these young people, creating a vision of mental health hospitals as places of colour, care and hope.

The exhibition is on daily until Sunday 26 April 2026.

  • Community Gallery, Midlands Arts Centre, Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham, B12 9QH
  • 9am - late (times may vary)
  • Free entry, donations welcome

Following the completion of the procurement progress, the contract for Parkview Clinic will transfer from Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust to Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust. Both organisations will work together to integrate Parkview into CWPT's children and young people's services.
