Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust wins national Nursing in Mental Health Award
Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust has been announced as the winner of the Nursing in Mental Health Award at the prestigious Nursing Times Awards 2026.
The award recognises the Trust for its innovative perinatal mental health nurse prescriber model, which is transforming access and outcomes for women requiring timely perinatal mental health support across Coventry and Warwickshire.
Through a nurse-led service redesign which increased non-medical prescriber capacity, women now experience quicker access, increased appointment flexibility, reduced waiting times and more holistic care.
Judges commended the model as a strong example of how advanced nursing practice can fundamentally transform the experience of service users and that care is delivered with the person at the centre - in the right place, at the right time - enabling access, maximising impact and sustaining positive outcomes.

This is a wonderful achievement for mental health nursing and the Perinatal Mental Health Service. Attending the award ceremony and winning is the ultimate accolade for the hard work and passion of the women that the Perinatal Team supports at the most vulnerable time of their lives, and the team that cares for them.
It shows how advancements in nursing through advanced clinical practitioner and nurse prescribing roles, along with quality improvement methodology, is making a difference in practice, and ultimately in the lives of the women we care for and treat.

The Nursing Times Awards took place at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel, London on 29 October and celebrate the very best in nursing and midwifery across the UK.
Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust were also finalists in the categories of Learning Disability Nursing, Children's Nursing and Nursing in Social Care.
