Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust celebrates Learning Disability Nurses Day
1 November is Learning Disability Nurses Day, a time to reflect on how the profession is valued and to celebrate the high quality care our learning disability nurses provide to the people we care for.
As a provider of learning disability and autism services, Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust (CWPT) is proud to represent the majority of learning disability nurses across the patch. With 190 registered learning disability nurses from community teams to inpatient wards, CWPT's nurses make a difference every day in the lives of patients they serve.
CWPT is taking the opportunity to celebrate the amazing learning disability nurses within the Trust and showcase the range of backgrounds and skills staff bring to work every day. On Tuesday 28 October, colleagues from across the Trust will come together at Coleshill Cricket Club to reflect on the difference they make to the patients in our care and hear from colleagues about their nursing journeys.
Staff will hear from colleagues about the different nursing roles within the Trust, have an opportunity to network and find out more about exciting work taking place within CWPT to support nurses to continue to provide high quality care.
Jacky Vincent, Interim Chief Nursing Officer at CWPT, said: Having recently joined CWPT, and as a learning disability nurse myself, I feel incredibly proud to be able to come together and recognise the amazing work our learning disability nurses do every day. The event will be an opportunity for us to shine a spotlight on just some examples of great work, the different roles learning disability nurses play across the Trust and give us the opportunity to reflect on how we can continue to provide the best care possible for our patients.
Emma Corke, Associate Director of Nursing for Learning Disability and Autism Services at CWPT, said: I'm very much looking forward to the event and celebrating our wonderful nurses. The role of a learning disability nurse is so rewarding, but it can often be challenging, so it's important that we take the time to celebrate our recent achievements and the difference our nurses make the patients' lives every day.
