Sonya Gardiner

As Chief Operating Officer, Sonya is responsible for Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust’s operational delivery, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective services that are innovative and responsive to the needs of those who receive the Trust’s services. Sonya is responsible for the Trusts Digital agenda, IT Services, Performance and Information, Clinical Systems, and Information Governance and is the ICS Executive Senior Responsible Officer for Learning Disabilities and Autism programme (LDA) across Coventry and Warwickshire. Sonya is also Executive lead for the Trust’s Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) and the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO).

Background and experience

Sonya joined the Trust in April 2020 as Deputy Chief Operating Officer and was interim Chief Operating Officer from January 2021, before being appointed substantively into the role in September 2021. Sonya has over 20 years of NHS and Local Authority experience and brings a wealth of experience from various senior operational leadership roles across the NHS and social care sectors. She started her managerial career as a Team Manager in Adult Social Care in Leicestershire and moved into healthcare, undertaking various operational leadership roles across both Children’s and Adult Services. Sonya moved to take up her post at the CWPT from Cambridgeshire where she had been a Service Director for Older People’s and Adults Community Services.
