Sonya Gardiner

As Chief Operating Officer, Sonya is responsible for the Trust’s operational delivery, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective services that are innovative and responsive to the needs of patients. Sonya is also the Executive lead for the Trust’s Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR).

Background and experience

Sonya joined the Trust in April 2020 as Deputy Chief Operating Officer and was interim Chief Operating Officer from January 2021, before being appointed substantively into the role in September 2021. Sonya has 19 years of NHS and Local Authority experience and brings a wealth of experience from various senior operational leadership roles across the NHS and social care sectors. She started her managerial career as a Team Manager in Adult Social Care in Leicestershire and moved into healthcare, undertaking various operational leadership roles across both Children’s and Adult Services. Sonya moved to take up her post at the Trust from Cambridgeshire where she had been a Service Director for Older People’s and Adults Community Services.
