Integrated Care System
The Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) is responsible for commissioning NHS services on behalf of people in Coventry and Warwickshire. In consultation with local partners, it plans the delivery of services in a way that both meets local health and care needs and reduces inequalities between different groups.
Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), or Integrated Care Systems (ICSs), are partnerships of organisations that come together to plan and deliver joined up health and care services, and to improve the lives of people who live and work in their area.
A good example of this already is the numerous examples of co-produced projects between the Trust and our partners. Projects such as Dimensions, an online tool providing health and wellbeing advice and signposting to help users find support and used by over 1,500 organisations, and the Trust’s work as part of the Coventry and Warwickshire Health and Care Partnership (HCP), show that integrated working isn’t new in Coventry and Warwickshire, we already have a strong foundation to build on locally.
With our partner organisations, we led the way in the national Elective Accelerator programme which reduced waiting lists across the area, and we worked together across health and care to roll out the highly successful vaccine campaign.
There are also fantastic local initiatives in our area that bring together health providers, care services, voluntary sector organisations and communities, from GP practices joining together to hire care co-ordinators who can help people to access the support they need, to new remote monitoring technology which means local care homes can identify small changes in their residents’ health and get them treatment early.
As part of the ICB, the board is made up of senior leaders from a range of health and care organisations and its membership includes our Chief Executive Mel Coombes.
