NHS 75 Staff Stories: Dimitrios Alimpertis
Dimitrios Alimpertis - Senior Digital Communications and Engagement Officer
How long have you been in the NHS?
Since July 2022.
Why did you choose to work in the NHS?
I grew up in a family of dentists, vets, and medical doctors and I was always the artist in the family. I have a long experience in the Arts and within digital communications for Art Institutions and within Higher Education. After Covid-19 happened, it made me reprioritise everything. I was very inspired by my friends and family that work in other Trusts or NHS England, so I wanted to give back to the community through my skills and talents. I wanted to focus on mental health and wellbeing, and honour my friends and family that live with learning disabilities or mental health conditions through my work.
Describe your role in 100 words.
I lead on all digital communications within the Communications Team, including branding, creative design, and digital engagement activity. This varies from creating social media content, videos with patient stories, logos, prints, and web pages, to developing and implementing policies, procedures, and strategies for our digital channels. I am a storytelling empath who communicates information, creates emotional associations, builds narratives, and calls audiences to action.
My role is to ensure we promote the Trust's image via digital channels and develop the Trust's presence on all relevant platforms. I also chair the LGBTQIA+ and Allies Network.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I love how dynamic my role is: one day I might be working from home building webpages and working on branding projects, and the next I might be away from my desk, in the office or a different location, filming, taking photos, or supporting events. Being the first role that I have full-time line-management responsibilities, I also really enjoy working closely with a very talented and hard-working Digital Communications Executive, Leah Clark, who makes the daily tasks and communications requests run smoothly and supports me with every digital project that we get.
Describe your favourite memory of working at CWPT in 100 words.
I will always cherish filming two different videos with Leah, one was with a patient, and one was with two members of staff. Both of us were so moved and almost in tears while we were filming both of those videos, as we came to realise how important the Trust’s work is and how wonderful all the people that work in the Trust are.
Another great memory is working on the branding of the new Neonatal Allied Health Professionals Integrated Service, and doing a co-production event with a focus group of parents and families to capture their input for the new brand. A day full of babies and great feedback!
