Specialist practitioners include a Respiratory Nurse Specialist, a Respiratory Pysiotherapist Epilepsy Nurse, Specialist Children’s Continuing Care Lead, Palliative Care Nurse Specialist, Play Specialist and Clinical Lead for Community Children’s Nursing.

Community Children’s Nursing Team

The team supports children with Complex health needs/ specialist nursing needs in their own homes, in school and in respite settings. The team provide nursing and carer support to children in 5 named special schools in Coventry. It also supports children who meet continuing care criteria in their own homes and in school by providing bespoke packages of care. The team delivers end of life care to children which includes in the last few days of life 24 hour visiting as needed.

The Birches Respite Team

The Birches is a residential unit providing respite to children who have complex physical health needs. The team also provide continuing care packages to children who meet criteria in their own homes and education settings. This includes children with long term ventilation needs. The team is made up of nurses and carers.
