Chief Executive of Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, Simon Gilby, has announced he will retire in January 2021.

Simon has over 37 years NHS service and joined the Trust in 2015. During this time, he has made a significant difference. Some of his achievements include taking the organisation from ‘requires improvement’ to an overall ‘good’ rating by the CQC and improving staff survey results year on year.

He has worked in senior roles at national, regional and local levels and served as an independent governor of Nottingham Trent University and as Independent Chairman of Social Enterprise Network (Liverpool city region). In July 2019, he was recognised for his outstanding contribution to public office within the health service and awarded a doctor of public administration by the University of Nottingham.

He said, “It’s been a huge pleasure and privilege to be part of the NHS for the last 37 years. I have been fortunate to work with many exceptional people.”

Chairman of Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, Jagtar Singh, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Simon for the contribution he has made over the last 5 years, serving the people of Coventry and Warwickshire. Under his leadership, we have made huge strides to improve the care and quality of services and patient experience, we have been rated good overall by the CQC, and we have achieved significant progress in how we engage with staff.

“Simon has ensured that we have built and maintained effective partnerships with our local health, social care, voluntary and community sector partners, including the leading work he has done in respect of our West Midlands partnerships.  We are a trust respected both for what it does and the way it does it.

“We wish him a successful and fulfilling next stage to his life. To ensure continuity of service, we have begun the task of finding someone of Simon's calibre to build on the strong platform he has built and take on the leadership of the Trust next year”.
