Statement following events this week in England

We are keen to reach out to all staff with regard to the events this week. Given the high of England reaching the Euro football final with such a diverse team, a huge low followed with the appalling and shocking racial abuse directed at players following the match. We have however been heartened to see the strength of public opinion and response from local communities to call out this behaviour, as the week has progressed.

There is no place for racism or any form of discrimination in our society and, together as CWPT, we must stand firm and stop this behaviour - we do not tolerate any form of racism. We are a multi-cultural organisation and society, which is enriched by the breadth of our diverse communities.

If anyone within our Trust has been affected by recent events, or indeed if you experience any form of discrimination, we urge you to call it out. We all have a duty, should we witness discrimination, to report it and support those who are being targeted.

As a Trust we have a proud reputation on equality.  We do however know we have more to do. We will continue at pace to move forward with our work on our campaign and framework to eliminate racism and other forms of discrimination. If any member of staff wants to talk to us regarding this brief, please do not hesitate to contact us.

From Jagtar Singh and Dominic Cox on behalf of the Trust Board
