Healthcare staff who work at The Lodge and Ashby House, along with their children and pets have produced a festive Makaton video to wish the adults they support and their families a very Merry Christmas.

The video features staff who work and provide services at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust’s (CWPT’s) The Lodge and Ashby House in Nuneaton. CWPT provides specialist day and respite services at The Lodge and Ashby House for adults with learning disabilities and complex health needs.

The video is a take on the Wizard’s ‘I wish it could be Christmas every day’ with the staff and children using Makaton. Makaton uses speech with signs (gestures) and symbols (pictures) to help people with communication and learning difficulties communicate and has been used in the video to share the joy of the song to everyone. Everyone is in the full spirit of Christmas and have dressed in festive outfits.

Jodie Boyle, Deputy Manager at Ashby House, said: “This year has been difficult for everybody so it’s great to be able to spread some Christmas cheer. It was fantastic and we are grateful to all our staff, children and furry friends who helped in the making of the video. We hope that our patients, their families, staff and members of the public enjoy our video, that it brings a smile, and everyone has a happy and safe Christmas.”

The festive video can be watched on the Trust YouTube channel.
