Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT) has announced it has appointed Dr Michelle Webster as it Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO).

Dr Webster joins the Digital Transformation Programme after being Lead Psychologist in Community Mental Health Services at CWOT, and her role will be supporting the Trust to develop and implement its Digital Transformation aspirations.

She said: “I am thrilled to be appointed as CCIO at such a crucial and exciting time in the Trust’s Digital Transformation Journey, because as technology continues to evolve at pace there are growing opportunities for digital health solutions to improve the quality and efficiency of our services.”

Dr Webster’s appointment also forms part of CWPT’s Global Digital Exemplar (GDE) programme. The Trust was announced as one of NHS Digital’s GDE Trust’s in February, where it will become a digital forefront for patient care.

She continued: “I am especially keen to work alongside clinicians and patients on digital projects that can help improve access to our services, lead to more coordinated care, more choice for our patients and provide proactive treatments that can be targeted to an individuals need.

“Utilising digital approaches that can also improve patient engagement and empowerment, bringing opportunities for patient self-management and symptom monitoring are also top of my list, as well as helping clinicians use digital approaches to give them more time to care.”

As well as Dr Webster being appointed CCIO, the Trust has also appointed two Digital Clinical Leads to support the programme; Dr Giri Madhavan Consultant Psychiatrist, from its Inpatient Learning Disability Services and Dr Supratik Chakraborty, Consultant Community Paediatrician. Together they will form a Clinical Digital Leadership Team and will actively engage with clinical colleagues across the Trust, promoting clinical input into Global Digital Exemplar (GDE) projects and providing clinicians a channel through which they can contribute their ideas and feel informed about developments in the digital programme.
