New Professor of Psychiatry appointed

Prof Swaran P Singh

We are delighted to welcome Professor Swaran Singh as our new Professor of Psychiatry and Associate Director of Research and Innovation (R&I) from Wednesday 1 March 2017.

Professor Singh has had a long and close association with the Trust through its partnership with Warwick Medical School and he served as the University Appointed Non-Executive Director on the Trust Board in 2009/10. He will be known to many of the Trust’s staff as a regional and national leader in mental health research and contributor to mental health policy development. As part of his new role he will be contributing to the Trust’s clinical services in Early Intervention.

Professor Swaran Singh said: “I am excited to be taking up my new role within Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, which I have worked in partnership with over many years.  I will be able to utilise my skills, knowledge and experience in mental health to assist the R&I Department to expand their research and innovation and to increase my own experience in community and children’s services, plus help to forge stronger partnerships with both Coventry and Warwick Universities.”

The Trust’s R&I team has grown in strength and reputation over the years under the previous leadership of Professor Scott Weich who recently moved to a new role as Professor of Mental Health, Mental Health Research Unit (HSR), ScHARR, University of Sheffield, and the Trust is confident that Professor Swaran Singh has the experience to thrive in this important Trust post as Associate Director of Research and Innovation.
