Shashi Carter and Colin Tysall will represent Coventry and Barry Carter will represent Warwickshire in the Council of Governors.

The three successful candidates were asked to take up the role due to recent changes in the Council of Governors and their term of office will commence immediately.  All three will be invited to complete a formal induction process to prepare them for their new roles.

Public Governors represent local residents from across the area served by the Trust, which provides a range of specialist mental health and learning disability services as well as community health services.

Public Governors work alongside Governors appointed by local organisations, and their primary role is to hold the Trust's Board to account, and seek assurance on the safety and quality of the services the Trust provides.  Once they take up their full statutory duties they also approve the appointment of the Chief Executive and Trust Chair and help develop the Trust priorities. The Council of Governors holds a minimum of four meetings throughout the year and works with the Board of Directors and is a conduit for the general public to communicate with the Trust.

Jagtar Singh, OBE, Chair of the Trust said: “'The role of Governor in our Trust is critically important. I am delighted to congratulate and welcome these newly appointed Governors and recognise and acknowledge the range of skills and experience they bring to the role, and I am looking forward to working with them in the near future as are the rest of my colleagues on the Trust Board.

“They provide a vital link to the various communities we serve through the members who elect them, and will  help us further develop links with our patient, service user and carer networks.”

Lead Governor, Helen Youds said: “We are looking forward to working together to ensure we meet the needs of our communities and continually strive to deliver outstanding, safe, high quality services.”
