Events are being held across Coventry from 16 May to 16 June to celebrate National Smile Month.

This year the campaign celebrates 40 years of promoting the values of good oral health. Since the 1970s the campaign has undergone significant changes, but the passion and enthusiasm has remained with organisations from right across the country taking part.

To celebrate this important month, the Oral Health Team from Coventry Community Dental Service, provided by Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, will be holding events in schools, colleges, care homes and health care centres around Coventry to raise awareness of the importance of good oral health.

On Wednesday 8 June, the Oral Health Team will be at the City of Coventry Health Centre, Stoney Stanton Road, Coventry, CV1 4FS, between 10am and 3.30pm. Everyone is welcome to pop along and gain advice on keeping a clean, healthy and pain-free mouth. The team will also be offering information and guidance on NHS dental services across Coventry.

Dr Nigel Carter OBE, Chief Executive of the Oral Health Foundation, the organisers of the annual campaign, said: “We’re delighted that Coventry Community Dental Services are taking part in National Smile Month. They play a vital role in helping important oral health messages reach many areas of their local community.

“By holding local events they are helping messages reach some of the most vulnerable areas of society when it comes to oral health.

“Support from organisations such as this is a key part to why National Smile Month remains to be successful; it is a great reflection of local community spirit and with their support we will continue to strive to provide better oral health for all.”
