Loved ones remembered at Christmas service

A service to remember loved ones who won’t be here this Christmas was held yesterday (Dec 18) at Newfield House.

The service was part of Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust’s (CWPT) “ Light Up A Life” campaign ran by the Specialist Palliative care team , who arranged for family members who lost loved ones this year to purchase a bauble with their name on, in their memory. The bauble was then proudly displayed on a Christmas tree outside Newfield House, in Coventry for everyone to see.

This is the first year CWPT has run the campaign raising £2,000 for the Trust’s Charity fund, which will go towards patient care. Following the success of the campaign it is hoped it will continue again next year.

Debbie Nash, Head of Service – Specialist Palliative Care at CWPT said: “I have thought for a long time about how we remember the patients and families that we have had the privilege to meet and care for throughout the year, and this campaign was to give families who have lost a loved one this year, the chance to remember them at Christmas.

“The whole event would not have been made possible without the contribution of the many people who attended the service last night; local companies and people have donated their time, resources and energy into helping put this together. It illustrates the bond that is created, even in the saddest of times, and also reminds me that we can achieve great things together and that nothing is done in Isolation.”
