A new website offering a one-stop shop for information on sexual health has been launched in Coventry.

The website (www.ishs.org.uk) is run by Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust and aims to ensure people can find and access sexual health services available in their area.

It contains a wealth of resources, including information on contraception and testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs); support for HIV; as well as more general advice and information.

Using the service finder, users can put in their postcode and be directed to services offered at GP surgeries, pharmacies and specialist sexual health services in their area.

Design of the new website was based on a great deal of market research and feedback from service users, in order to best suit their requirements.

Features of the new domain include a service directory linked to Google Maps; a breakdown of different sexualities and genders; and an online booking tool for appointments and signposting.

Head of Integrated Sexual Health Services (ISHS), Charlotte Hubbard, said “I am very proud of the new website, which will improve our ability to reach out to the people most in need of our services.

“Having an online presence has never been more important; with most young people using social media regularly it’s a prime opportunity to correct some of the myths around sexual health, and to provide signposting and information to those who need it.”

A page for healthcare professionals has also been included, with guidance on becoming a provider and receiving training.
