Improvement Team shortlisted for the HSJ Patient Safety Award 'Quality Improvement Initiative of the Year'.

We are delighted to announce that our Improvement Team have been shortlisted for the HSJPatient Safety Award for Quality Improvement Initiative of the Year.
The team were nominated for using QI to improve flow across multiple services, as long waiting times were leading to overwhelming numbers of patients on waiting lists.
Teams were given permission to take time to use QI tools, review their data and go through QI processes. The Improvement Team acted as a central hub for teams, sharing their findings and knowledge of what was working. Bringing together this knowledge allowed iterative changes to be built upon across teams at pace with different teams learning from the experience of others.
The work resulted in reduced waiting times, increased patient facing time as well as cost savings across many services.
Due the success of the QI work, the team have also been sharing this approach and it is now being implemented in other teams too.
The next stage of the shortlisting process is for the team to present to the judging panel on July 17, after which the awards are presented at Manchester Central on Monday September 15.
Well done to our Improvement Team and good luck at the award ceremony in September.
