Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT) is delighted to have been awarded two Health Service Journal (HSJ) Partnership Awards 2021.

The award ceremony took place yesterday (29/6) evening at Evolution in London and is the biggest annual celebration of partnership excellence. It is a recognition for the healthcare sector with a vision to look into sharing best practice and improving patient outcomes.

CWPT has been awarded two HSJ Partnership Awards 2021 for working in partnership with Oxehealth and two Foundation Trusts to deliver two innovative digital programmes to improve patient safety and care at inpatient mental health hospitals:

Best Mental Health Partnership with the NHS: Fewer Incidents and Better Care in Inpatient Mental Health Hospitals.

Working with technology provider Oxehealth for the past five years, together CWPT and Oxehealth have developed and deployed a new patient monitoring platform to improve safety and quality of care in inpatient mental health hospitals.

CWPT has been commended for their clinical knowledge and Oxehealth’s technical expertise which have complemented each other to create a successful partnership that is delivering improvements across Older Adult, PICU, and Acute mental health settings. The results showed a reduction in patient safety incidents, improved patient and staff experience, and an increase in operational efficiency across all care settings deployed.

Most Effective Contribution to Patient Safety: Improving Safety and Care for Inpatient Mental Health Patients.

CWPT, Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust partnered with Oxehealth, to deploy a new, contact-free and vision-based, patient monitoring platform, Oxevision. The aim was to address challenges in patient safety, safety in seclusion, and quality of care (particularly sleep quality) in inpatient mental health hospitals.

Following the launch of Oxevision, results have showed a reduction in patient safety incidents (falls, self-harm, and assaults), a positive impact on the quality of physical health monitoring in seclusion, a significant improvement in patient experience due to less disturbance at night, and improved operational efficiencies.

Mel Coombes, MBE, Chief Executive of CWPT, said: “I am extremely proud of everyone involved. Working in the NHS, we are always looking at how we can improve patient care, safety and experience. By working together in partnership with Oxehealth and Foundation Trust colleagues we are bringing both clinical and technical expertise and knowledge to achieve the best possible care for our patients.

“The passion and dedication our staff show every day to ensure we continue to improve is a testament to our organisation. Patient care is at the heart of everything we do, and we will always look at how we can make sure we are delivering outstanding care for the people we care for.”
