NHS heroes from Coventry and Warwickshire have received awards for their top performance.

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust held their Q Awards celebration to mark successes from the year just gone.

Clem Bromley, an IT Service manager who works with GPs, has been awarded the Chair’s Award for his dedication, reliable competence and high levels of motivation over the last 11 years.

His nomination says that he normally works from 7am to 4pm, managing an IT service that provides for “over 80 GP sites and over 1,400 users with his two IT engineers”, and has provided “a very effective and solid service to General Practice for over 11 years now”.

This year’s Q Awards, held on 6 July at the Coventry Hilton Hotel, saw a record 600 nominations for 255 different nominees, the highest number of submissions ever received for the Q Awards.

Our Trust provides mental health and learning disability services to Coventry, Warwickshire and parts of Solihull, and with such a wide remit it is sometimes easy for the fantastic work of our staff to go underneath the radar.

For the last 9 years, Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust has held the annual Quality (Q) Awards, which celebrate the achievements of our staff and services.

The categories include ‘Seeking Excellence’; ‘Working Together’; ‘Compassion in Action’ and ‘Respect for Everyone’. The nominations come from within the Trust for particular individuals or teams that have gone above and beyond in providing high-quality care for our service users.

The winners for 2016 included Emma Scott, Team Lead for Pre-School Special Needs, for ‘Clinical Leader of the Year’.

Her nomination was for her “exceptional contribution” during a commissioner-led review and redesign, in which she actively made sure the staff’s concerns were heard and that the service continued to operate safely and compassionately for patients during the difficult transitionary period.

Another successful nominee was Paula Richardson, Acting Service Manager for the School and Youth Integrated Practice Unit, in the category ‘Compassion in Action – Individual’.

Paula was nominated for her dedication to making time and providing exemplary support for other staff members.

The Tile Hill District Nurses were the winners of the ‘Seeking Excellence – Team’ category, for their efforts in a collaborative nursing triage project, which has been successful in reducing both hospital admissions and 999 calls and attendances.

Jagtar Singh, the Trust’s Chair, said of the night: “The Q Awards is our opportunity to demonstrate our appreciation of all the hard work our staff have put in over the last year.

“This year, there have been a record number of nominations from our staff members and service users, and I am overjoyed to see that the judge’s decisions were made so difficult by such a huge wealth of examples of good practice.

“We are, as ever, extremely proud of all the nominees, and I would like to also congratulate all of the winners for their dedication and perseverance to our Trust’s core values. Well done to you all.”
