Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT) has increased its capacity to offer 5,500 COVID-19 vaccination appointments at its vaccination site at Bedworth Civic Hall, Bedworth, Nuneaton until the end of December.

The NHS vaccination programme will offer every adult the chance to book a COVID-19 booster vaccine by the end of the year to protect the nation against the Omicron variant.

As part of the biggest and fastest vaccine programme in health service history, online bookings were made available for all those in their 30s and above from yesterday (13/12). The national booking service will then open booster appointments to everyone aged 18 and over from tomorrow, Wednesday (15/12).

The CWPT COVID-19 vaccination team are offering:

  • 1st doses to anyone aged 12 and over
  • 2nd doses to anyone aged 16+ who is eligible. People aged 18+ should have their second dose from 8 weeks after their first dose. Most people aged 16 or 17 should have their second dose from 12 weeks after their first dose, or after 8 weeks if classed as high risk.
  • Booster vaccinations are available to anyone aged 18+, 3 months after their second dose.

To attend a vaccination appointment at Bedworth Civic Hall, you must pre-book online at www.nhs.uk or by calling 119 – please do keep checking availability as appointments are loaded onto the system every day. The website and phoneline are understandably very busy and we thank you for your patience when booking.

If you have tested positive for COVID-19, aged 18+ and not high risk from COVID-19, you will need to wait 28 days to have your COVID-19 vaccine. Any children aged 12-17 who have tested positive for COVID-19 and are not at high risk from COVID-19, need to wait 12 weeks before they can have a COVID-19 vaccine.

Rob Spencer, COVID-19 Vaccination Lead at CWPT, said: “Scientists are very concerned about the spread of Omicron due to the speed with which it spreads and because two doses do not appear to provide much protection but thankfully, a booster dramatically improves this.

“We are encouraging everyone to prebook their COVID-19 vaccination and booster as soon as they are eligible. It doesn’t matter if you are booking your first, second doses or booster, we just need people to step forward now, more than ever to help support the NHS and help prevent the spread of Omicron and reduce the risk of serious illness from COVID-19.

“We appreciate the NHS website and booking centre is very busy with people attempting to book their COVID-19 vaccination. Please be patient, you will be put into a queue and you will be able to book an appointment. Do check availability on the website regularly as appointments are loaded onto the system every day. We thank you for your patience when booking.

“We would also like to ask for the local community of Coventry and Warwickshire to continue to support us. We are working extremely hard to deliver the COVID-19 vaccination programme and to vaccinate as many people as possible. We ask for your respect and patience. Any form of abuse will not be tolerated. We are here to help you and ask for your respect and support in return.”

The NHS is prioritising bookings for COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters and is urging people to book a slot to guarantee their vital jab. Some sites offer walk-in appointments where no appointment is needed. Please check here for clinics with walk-in availability and their opening hours www.happyhealthylives.uk/vaccinationdrop-ins.
