Earlier this year, before her wedding, Children’s Occupational Therapist with Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, Sophie Mckeown (nee Addie) rallied a group of colleagues to join her in the Wolf Run.  Together they raised over £1600 for the ‘When you Wish upon a Star’ children’s charity.  Now Sophie is at it again.

On 31 October 2015 she will be having around 12 inches cut off her hair in ‘The Big Chop’ at Kelly Cooper Hairdressing and donating it to the Little Princess Trust. The Little Princess Trust make and provide real hair wigs to children and young people in the UK who have lost their hair through cancer treatments.

In addition, she is fundraising for Children with Cancer UK in the lead up to ‘The Big Chop’ and has set herself the target of £1000.  Children with Cancer UK is the leading national children’s charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancers.

Sophie said: “Through working as a Children’s Occupational Therapist in the NHS I have seen first-hand how amazing and courageous children and young people with cancer can be and equally how heart breaking cancer can be for the child and their families.

“Every week more than 70 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer in the UK.  I wanted to do something to help these charities continue their amazing research and support of those children and young people affected, with the donation of money but also of my hair.

“If anyone would like to make a donation, however small, it would be fantastic and really appreciated.  These two charities are doing amazing work but rely on donations to continue doing what they do.”

If you would like to support Sophie, she has set up a secure JustGiving webpage where you can find out more information or make a donation, atwww.justgiving.com/sophie-mac.
