Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust promotes wellbeing in the community on World Mental Health Day

To encourage the importance of looking after our mental health, Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT) will be at 13 locations on World Mental Health Day promoting its Talking Therapies Service for anxiety and depression. Members of the public are welcome to attend the following locations:
· Coventry Transport Museum
· Asda Superstores in Nuneaton and Rugby
· Royal Priors shopping centre in Leamington Spa
· Touchwood shopping centre in Solihull
Coventry Rail Station
This poster has the full list of venues, including the addresses and times of each event. Biscuits, merchandise and leaflets will be available for free, along with clinicians and staff to give information about the service offered by Talking Therapies.
Talking Therapies will also be in the community supporting staff from local organisations at the following venues:
· University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW), where a tea and cake event will take place for staff on the maternity ward. The intention is to promote Talking Therapies’ perinatal offer that supports expectant parents from pregnancy up to 2 years after giving birth.
· University of Warwick, Warwick Business School where a promotional stall for staff will include crossword puzzles, Sudoku and other helpful activities to combat stress and low mood. In addition, Talking Therapies is hosting 3 virtual workshops for all University of Warwick employees on stress, anxiety and sleep, respectively.
Sonya Gardiner, Chief Operating Officer at CWPT, said: “Promoting self-care and the support available is pivotal in ensuring that mental wellbeing is a priority for all, which is why CWPT’s Talking Therapies Service remains focused on ensuring that everyone has the tools and information to maintain strong mental health. This is why we hosted a mindfulness workshop for staff this year to mark World Mental Health Day in CWPT.”
The mindfulness workshop took place on 2 October for all CWPT employees. Led by the Talking Therapies Service, the programme offered staff a chance to take a pause and reflect on their wellbeing. It focused on understanding the concept of mindfulness by exploring practical activities that can be used in the workplace to aid employees better their mental health, which can also benefit their patients, such as mindful self-compassion and recommendations to take into daily life. There was also the opportunity for guided mediation.
Sheri Ashton, Head of Service at NHS Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression said: “While World Mental Health Day only lasts 24 hours, our mental health requires ongoing attention. That’s why we led the workshop for CWPT colleagues last week and are now engaging with the public today.”
