Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust celebrates nursing careers and advanced practice for International Nurses Day

International Nurses Day is a global celebration that takes place every year on 12 May to shine a spotlight on the nursing profession and celebrate their contribution to patient care.
Just under a quarter of the workforce at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust's (CWPT) are nurses. Nurses are in every care pathway, and their commitment on a daily basis helps provide the best care possible to CWPT's patients.
Every year, CWPT takes the opportunity to showcase the amazing dedication of its nursing staff for International Nurses Day during May. This year, CWPT is collaborating with Coventry University to host a celebration on campus for CWPT colleagues. Taking place on Thursday 22 May, the event will hear from speakers about their nursing journeys and focus on the pathways for development for staff.
CWPT is dedicated to developing its staff and supporting the progression of nursing students in the early stages of their careers and is thrilled to have speakers from Coventry University leading some of the talks. CWPT staff will have the chance to find out more about career development opportunities.
Mary Mumvuri, Chief Nursing Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer at CWPT, said: I always feel so privileged to be able to come together to celebrate the incredible work of our nursing staff across CWPT. Not only will the event be a great chance to hear and be inspired by the amazing nursing careers some of our staff have had, but our collaboration with the University reinforces our ongoing commitment to developing our staff so they can continue to provide quality care. I see the event as also playing a role in supporting one of our Trust's strategic objectives of partnership working and the value it brings to our local communities.
Kyri Gregoriou, Director of Nursing at CWPT, said: I'm very much looking forward to the event and celebrating the commitment of our nurses to patient care, not just for International Nurses Day, but all year round. We have a range of nursing roles across the Trust, and this year's event is really focussed on the individual journeys some of our staff have had and how we want to keep supporting staff in their future development. I'm proud to be a nurse and proud to be able to highlight some of the fantastic work taking place across the Trust.
