Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust Celebrates as Three Staff Honoured in King’s Birthday Honours List

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT) is celebrating the announcement that three of its current and former staff members, including the Trust's former Chair, its Chief Nursing Officer, and a long-standing Consultant, have been recognised in the 2025 King's Birthday Honours List for their exceptional service to healthcare and the community.

Chief Nursing Officer Mary Mumvuri , Former Chair Professor Jagtar Singh, and Professor Muhammad Afzal Javed , a consultant psychiatrist, have each been honoured for their leadership, commitment, and tireless dedication to improving mental health and community services across the region.

Mel Coombes MBE , Chief Executive of CWPT, said, We are absolutely thrilled to see Jagtar, Mary, and Professor Javed recognised at a national level. Their contributions have had a lasting impact not only within our Trust but across the NHS and the communities we serve. These honours reflect their years of compassionate leadership, innovation, and commitment to patient care. On behalf of everyone at CWPT, I extend our warmest congratulations.

Professor Jagtar Singh OBE  said, I am deeply honoured to have been recognised in the King's Birthday Honours list. This has only been possible with the support of local and national partners, my BAME staff networks, work colleagues at CWPT where I served as Chair for ten years and my wife and loving family. Together our work has been focused on health inequalities and improving the lives of people who access services in Coventry and Warwickshire.

Honourees:

·       Professor Jagtar Singh - Former Chair of CWPT
Honoured with a Commanders of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his services to the NHS. Jagtar has provided demonstrated leadership and commitment to advancing equality, diversity, and inclusion during. Jagtar leaves a lasting legacy of inclusive leadership and having helped shape a culture of accountability and fairness across the Trust and wider health system during his 10-year tenure as CWPTs Chair.

·       Mary Mumvuri - Chief Nursing Officer & Deputy Chief Executive Officer
Recognised with a Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) For services to Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Autism. Mary is known for her dedication to professional excellence in nursing, Mary has led transformational changes in patient safety, workforce development, and compassionate care. Her work has strengthened the voice of nurses across mental health, learning disability, and community services.

·       Professor Muhammad Afzal JAVED Consultant Psychiatrist 
Honoured with an Officers of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to Mental Health. Professor Javed supports individuals with complex mental health needs and is widely respected for his clinical expertise and patient-centred care.

The King's Birthday Honours highlight individuals across the UK whose service and leadership have made a significant difference to public life.
