Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT) is expanding its learning disability and autism services at Brooklands Hospital, Solihull, with the opening of Rainbow Unit; a brand-new purpose-built low-secure facility for men with autism.

Due to open in May 2023, the modern and bright facility will join six units already providing specialist inpatient treatment to people with learning disabilities and autism at Brooklands Hospital, a Centre of Excellence.

Now the Trust’s learning disability and autism service is pleased to announce a recruitment open day on Friday 31 March between 10am – 3pm. At the drop-in event, attendees will be able to speak to the Trust’s speciality teams and learn about the rewarding career opportunities on offer in the new unit and across the wider Brooklands site.

Anyone interested in a role in the Trust’s learning disability and autism services is welcome to attend the event and meet the teams. For some roles, the Trust will be offering on-the-day interviews, and candidates can walk away with a job offer (pending pre-employment checks). These will be available for:

  • qualified nurses (band 5 and band 6)
  • nurse associates
  • qualified and aspiring healthcare assistants
  • administrators

The Trust is pleased to offer a progression route for healthcare assistants, nurse associates and nurses to support your career development at every level. This includes a 12-week apprenticeship programme to support aspiring healthcare assistants to become qualified and a registered nursing degree apprenticeship for nurse associates.

Throughout the day, there will be:

  • presentations from different teams showcasing the opportunities they provide and the breadth of work they undertake
  • opportunities to hear from colleagues about their learning and development journey and how the Trust can support you to thrive in your future role too.
  • on-the-day interviews and job offers for some roles.

Mel Coombes MBE, Chief Executive at CWPT, said,

‘The opening of the new Rainbow Unit at Brooklands Hospital has allowed us to increase our capacity to provide specialist care for more people who need it. Our secure and inpatient services do not just make a difference to the lives of our service users but also provide families and carers with reassurance that their loved one is being cared for in a supportive environment by people who have their best interests at heart.

‘We’re delighted to be hosting this recruitment event to showcase the work of our teams and what a career in our learning disability and autism services can do for individuals and their future. We’re recruiting to roles at all levels and would welcome anyone with the passion to make a difference to the lives of this vulnerable population to join us.’

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust offers excellent rates of pay, NHS benefits, generous annual leave, and an extensive wellbeing package to support staff both in and out of work. All nurses who are newly qualified or new to an area of practice or speciality have access to a 12-month preceptorship programme to support their development and the Trust can offer relocation packages for some roles.
