Nurses and midwives celebrate International Nurses Day

Int Nurses Day 2016

On 12 May nurses and midwives from across Coventry and Warwickshire will come together for the second annual celebration event for International Nurses’ Day and International Day of the Midwife. The event will consist of a procession through Coventry city centre leading into a ceremony at Coventry Cathedral.

The event will be attended by nurses and midwives from Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust and student nurses and midwives from Coventry University.

Mandy Braimbridge, Assistant Director of Nursing for Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, said, “Last year was the first time NHS Nurses and Midwives from across Coventry and Warwickshire came together to celebrate International Nurses’ Day and International Day of the Midwife. It was an incredibly uplifting and inspirational event which left everyone feeling extremely proud of their profession. We are delighted that we have been able to work with colleagues at our neighbouring Trusts, and Coventry University, to organise this event again.”

This year’s Master of Ceremonies will be Director of Nursing for George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, Michelle Norton. Michelle Norton said: “I am honoured to be Master of Ceremonies at this year’s event, which will showcase examples of the incredible work nurses and midwives do.

This is a wonderful opportunity to say thank you to our dedicated teams of nurses and midwives who are real heroes every day.”
