Find out more about Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust’s (CWPT) plans to create new inpatient facilities for patients with a learning disability and/ or autism at Brooklands Hospital in Marston Green.

Patients and the public are invited to view the plans for the new facilities at two drop events at Brooklands Hospital, in the Brian Oliver building later this month, where they will be able to speak to staff and ask questions about the latest plan.

The drop in events will take place on January 31, 2020 at the following times:

  • 11.30am until 12.30pm
  • 4pm until 5.30pm

The events are free to attend, and people wishing to attend do not require to book on.

The plans involve creating a new low secure unit dedicated for patients with autism only and a new recovery and integration facility for patients with a learning disability and/ or autism.

Work on the new unit started earlier this month, and is to be carried out over three phases, with the two units set to fully open in winter 2021. Patients will benefit from a self-contained apartment which includes a lounge area, bedroom and en-suite, with access to their own outside area. There will also be a day space area, kitchen, laundry, reception/ waiting room, therapy and multi-faith room.

The plans form part of the Trust’s transformation programme, which aims to improve health and care for people with a learning disability, autism or both, enable more patients to access services that are closer to home and, with the right support, live within the community.
