Aspen Centre rated ‘Good’ by CQC

A healthcare centre in Warwick is celebrating after being rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The Aspen Centre, which is run by Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT), received its ‘Good’ rating earlier this month following the inspection in October.

The centre provides a specialist eating disorder service to clients with eating disorders through a range of psychological therapies. The inspection took place in October 2019, and the CQC rated Aspen Centre as ‘Good’ in all areas, including safety; effectiveness; caring; responsiveness; and leadership. 

The CQC said in the report that “staff treated patients with compassion and kindness, respected their privacy and dignity, and understood the individual needs of patients”. The report also noted that staff actively involved patients and their families and carers in decisions around their care.

Chris Fawson, General Manager for Inpatient Services at CWPT, said: “This is great news for the Aspen Centre. We are pleased that when the CQC announced the results of their recent inspection on Tuesday, it rated our Specialist Eating Disorder Service as ‘Good’.

“We would like to take this opportunity to say how proud we are of everyone at the Aspen Centre and of all the work they have put in, and how happy we are that the excellent service they provide to their clients has been officially recognised.” 

Simon Gilby, Chief Executive at CWPT, added: “We are thrilled to learn that the CQC has rated our Specialist Eating Disorder Service at the Aspen Centre as ‘Good’ in all areas after their most recent inspection. We are particularly pleased to see this recognition that our staff are providing high quality assessment and effective treatments for their patients in a compassionate and caring way. 

“I know that everyone involved with the service has worked very hard towards this outcome, and would like to thank all those staff for the effort and care they put into providing support for their clients every single day.”
