Armed Forces Day celebrated in Nuneaton

Hugh Cobley from the Service User Forum, Dr Dan Barnard, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Len Hardy, Veterans Contact Point

To celebrate Armed Forces Day 2017, we showed our support to service personnel working around the world by attending the Jesse Owen RM Armed Forces Day and Gala Event.

One of Nuneaton and Bedworth’s well known and respected old soldiers, Jesse was a Korean War veteran and served as a parade marshal in both towns. He had officiated at ex-service and military parades and other events throughout the borough for almost a quarter of a century.

Lynne Davidson, ex Armed Forces (Veterans) Project Manager and Dr Dan Barnard, Consultant Clinical Psychologist attended the gala event along with ex Armed Forces personnel, to speak with past and present service personnel about the services we provide to veterans.

Dr Barnard said: “This year’s event was a fantastic opportunity, alongside our charity partners, to show our support to serving servicemen and women, veterans and their families – and to share with them that tailored services are here for them. Having some of our previous service users at the gala event actively advocating the Trust’s ex-Armed Forces service with other squaddies was the best and most humbling part.”
