Andrew Robert Entwistle

Andrew-Robert-Entwistle I was a research scientist 1968-1997 including at international level. I retired to care full time for my mother and now care for my brother who has cancer. I am or have been a lay representative on the National Institute of Health Research for Patient Benefit Programme, West Midlands (South) Clinical Research Network Board and Patient Advisory Group, Heart of England Mental Health Research Network, WM Research Design Service, and End of Life research projects at Warwick Medical School. I describe my experiences as a carer to Warwick Medical Students.

My experiences as carer and lay representative in health and social care situations havetaught me the importance of public involvement in health care policies. I am now actively involved in demonstrating the importance of public involvement in health care strategy, and in recruitment to clinical research trials.

I am experienced in group meetings including different cultures, able to assimilate and understand large amounts of data and to keep summaries focussed, short and simple. In addition to English I speak French, Spanish and Italian.

I would like to make available my experience and skills as a Governor to the Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership so as to promote first class health care.
