The Coventry Falls Physiotherapy Service provides a specialist physiotherapy falls service to people aged 65 years or over, who have fallen, or are at risk of falling. It is based at Newfield House within the Community Physiotherapy Service.

The service is delivered in a group outpatient setting, which is aimed at reducing the risk of falling and increasing physical abilities. Intervention is delivered to people referred into the service that are able to participate gain benefit from participating an exercise programme.

Assessment is based on the multifactorial Falls assessment referred to in the NICE Guidelines for Falls. The outcome of the initial assessment will determine suitability to commence the 7 week exercise programme.

Patient centered goals are set and outcome is based upon review of these and specific falls related outcome measures that are reviewed at the end of the programme. Contact is made with patients 6 months after programme completion to review outcome measures and ascertain if patients have continued to exercise, had further falls or admissions as a result of falling.
