Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust has announced the identity of its new Chief Executive.

Simon Gilby has been appointed to the senior role, and will take up his post later in the year.

He was appointed following a selection process involving staff, stakeholders and patients of the Trust, earlier this month.

The Trust provides a range of specialist mental health and learning disability services in Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull, as well as community health services in Coventry.

Simon is joining from Wirral Community NHS Trust in Cheshire, where he has served as Chief Executive since April 2012. He has a wealth of experience in the NHS at local, regional and national levels.

Immediately prior to joining the Trust Simon spent a short period with NHS South Yorkshire supporting the implementation of national policy.

For the five years before that he was the Managing Director of Sheffield PCT Community Services. Previous roles include Chief Executive of Sheffield West Primary Care Trust and Chief Executive of Southern Derbyshire Health Authority.

Jagtar Singh, Chair of Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, said: “We were delighted with the quality of the candidates that we reviewed throughout this process. I know Simon will be an enthusiastic leader and his experience will help make him a valuable addition to our senior team.”

Simon said: “I am passionate about patient care, and about supporting staff to do what they do best - deliver high quality services. I am looking forward to coming to Coventry and Warwickshire, and learning more about the excellent services provided by the Partnership Trust and its partners.”

Simon is married with two grown up children and is also a governor of Nottingham Trent University.
