On the 6 November 2018 the Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire, Mr Timothy Cox made an official visit to our Trust headquarters in Coventry to present a British Empire Medal (BEM) awarded to Marie Tait in the recent Queens Birthday Honours list.

Marie, a dedicated and exceptional Healthcare Assistant (HCA) who, for over 40 years, has made her life’s work one of care and compassion for her patients and continues to do so. Marie is also recognised for her devotion and selfless approach in her volunteering and charity work, ‘going above and beyond for people in need’.

Marie wanted to share her special day with her family, friends and colleagues at a specific awards ceremony held at the Trust’s HQ. She will be going to the Palace next summer.

Marie expressed how it feels to be awarded this medal: “I feel so proud to receive this medal in her Majesty’s Birthday Honours. It has come as quite a shock and totally unexpected.

“It has always been a pleasure working for the NHS and the Trust, and I can honestly say I have enjoyed seeing so many patients receive the best care by the most dedicated staff.”

Simon Gilby, Chief Executive at the Trust, said: “On behalf of all at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, I would like to congratulate Marie for this deserving achievement.

“The care that she and all our other staff provide is really important to us, and Marie has shown her dedication with over 40 years continuous service. I cannot thank her enough for the time and effort she has dedicated to our patients and staff.”

David Tait, Marie’s son and Chief Pharmacist at the Trust, said: “My mother is an amazingly selfless person and a fantastic patient champion. Patients and other volunteers are always so happy to see her and it is clear that she absolutely loves what she does. We are so proud of her.”
