Members of staff at a local NHS Trust have been shortlisted for prestigious national awards.

Two staff members at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust have been shortlisted in this year’s Health Estates and Facilities Management Association (HefmA) Awards.

Ian Robinson, the Trust’s Associate Director of Estates and Procurement, was nominated for the ‘Leader of the Year Award’ for his passion and enthusiasm in helping to make patient environments the best they can be, and ensuring that patients’ considerations are always at the heart of any work planning.

Ian leads a large group of professional staff delivering a wide range of estates and procurement support to a diverse group of clinical services.

Justine Richards, Director of Business Strategy and Support, said: “Ian leads by example and champions the need for his staff to contribute to a positive patient experience each and every time.  His leadership qualities have helped to build a happy, committed and productive team of people who strive to deliver an excellent service to deliver this vision.”

The second shortlisted member of staff is Christopher Dobson, the Trust’s Senior Procurement Officer. Christopher was nominated for the HefmA ‘Personal Development Award’.

Starting as a porter in the Trust in 2008, Christopher has undergone a significant amount of training over the years, the majority of which he undertook in his own time.

Christopher has gained much confidence from undertaking his learning and development. As well as benefitting the Estates and Procurement Team by being able to share his knowledge with his colleagues, he has also been able to take the lead on a number of key projects.

Steve Lawley, Business and Compliance Manager, said: “We are so proud that Christopher has been nominated for this award. His personal resilience and ability to calmly consider ways to improve procurement practice to minimise disruption for patients, has been recognised again and again by people around the Trust. He has shown dedication to improve both himself and the team he works in which has enabled the Trust to improve a number of procurement activities.”

HefmA was formed in the early 1990s as a branch-based network of Estates and Facilities Professionals working in the NHS. It is made up of eight regional branches across England. Members work with the government and other organisations to support and shape policy and standards.
