Learning Disability Week 2020

Learning Disability Week celebrations for Coventry and Warwickshire

A virtual art exhibition, video tutorials and singing are amongst the creative ways that Learning Disability Week (15 June to 21 June) will be marked in Coventry and Warwickshire this year. Find out more about the different activities taking place this week here.

Virtual Art Gallery is a masterpiece for Learning Disability Week

One of the first virtual art galleries in the NHS has been unveiled to celebrate Learning Disability Week in Coventry and Warwickshire.

Over 50 pieces of artwork created during art therapy sessions have been hung on a virtual wall to showcase the artistic talents of people with learning disabilities who are supported at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust. Find out more here.

Makaton is a unique language which uses speech with signs (gestures) and symbols (pictures) to help people communicate.  It also uses facial expression, eye contact and body language to give as much information as possible.

Take a look at the fantastic Lucinda and Nikki teaching Makaton for "friend" to celebrate Learning Disability Week 2020. Why not watch and see if you can do it too?
