Your stop smoking journey

Your stop smoking journey will last 12 weeks.

Your first appointment – may be in a clinic, at a Health Centre, your GP surgery or even in your local pharmacy. The first appointment usually lasts around 45 minutes, during which time your advisor will discuss your current smoking habits, your motivation to quit and medicines such as NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy) to help you manage your cravings.

Your following appointments – will be weekly up to and including Week 5 and usually last around 15 minutes. Your advisor will take your carbon monoxide (CO) reading. If you are still smoking, we can discuss the reasons why and look at ways to help you quit.

Your fifth appointment – If you have been successful in staying smoke free, you will be given a certificate by way of congratulations.

Your last appointment – will take place 12 weeks after your started the programme and will take the same format as the second appointment. We hope you have been successful in staying smokefree.  If yes, then 'Congratulations, you have broken your habit!'  If for any reason you have relapsed, you may be able to start again when you want to and feel ready to stop smoking.
