Children and Adolescents Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) are a comprehensive range of services that provide help and treatment to children and young people experiencing emotional or behavioural difficulties, or mental health problems, disorders and illnesses. These services are available to children and young people up to their 17th birthday. Referral is through professionals such as GPs and educational psychologists.

Services are delivered by multi-disciplinary teams with a large skill mix of staff. All offer specialist services and the focus of work is child-centred with a multi-agency approach.

Child psychologists, child psychiatrists, nurses, primary mental health workers, a child psychotherapist and art therapist are all part of these services.
