Respite Services/Short Stay - Children

Respite care is essential for the well-being of both the carer and that of the person who is being cared for, and stays can be as short or as long as needed. Respite can also provide parents and families a necessary and valuable break from caring responsibilities.

All referrals to north Warwickshire services are passed to the Community Learning Disability Team for assessment and then referred to NONAP (North Warwickshire Overnight Allocation Panel). The short stay service caters for children who have a severe learning disability, associated conditions and mental health needs.

Bradbury House provides residential short breaks to children with a learning disability and challenging behaviour aged 5 to 19 years. Care is provided in a purpose-built bungalow by appropriately qualified nurses and nursing assistants.

It provides a homely environment where the young people can learn, play and relax, and have the opportunity to build on their daily living skills, gain independence and form positive relations with other children and adults. The young people are encouraged to join in group activities, learn to share and take turns, which will enhance their social skills.
